Deluxe Lineman Leather Gloves with 6" Gauntlet Cuff & Reflective Stripe

These deluxe lineman gloves are made with select heavyweight 3-1/2 oz grain horsehide leather, that has been treated with a fluoro-chemical water-repellent emulsion for excellent water, oil, and stain-repellent properties. (The soft, breathable qualities of the leather are not affected by this water-repellent treatment.) Other special features include our performance thumb/palm patch, which reinforces critical-wear areas with a double layer of leather. Sewn across the back of the leather cuffs are heavy-duty high-viz fluorescent-yellow fabric strips and retro-reflective silver strips for greater night-time visibility. All styles are sewn with Kevlar® thread for extra seam strength. Kevlar® is a registered trademark of E.I. du Pont de Nemours and Company.

Do more layers equal more protection?
Construction in the palm area of leather gloves leads to some misconceptions. When sizing up gloves in a catalog, it is tempting to believe – based on appearance alone – that a patch palm is going to double your protection. To the uninitiated, palm patches would seem to offer greater protection, as the double palm looks like it would give twice the protection in that area.
The reality with most patch-palm leather glove styles is that the patch exists as a kind of bridge between two pieces of leather to create a full palm. This enables the glove manufacturer to maximize use of the full hide by using up all the smaller leftover pieces.
