Lumberworks Fleeced Flannel Work Gloves

Superior’s new Lumberworks gloves are made from an 18 oz.cotton-flannel that protects your hands in many wood-related applications. Palms, index fingers and thumbs are a double-layer of heavyweight, black, fleeced flannel, providing protection against abrasion and minor punctures. This makes them ideal when handling all types of wood, rope or chain in the forest or the lumberyard. Flannel also offers better grip, even when wet or oily. The black color on the palm side hides stains and dirt, while the lighter, bright yellow cotton-twill backs allow for better breathability, making them cooler, more comfortable AND highly visible. These gloves can be laundered over and over, and have an extremely low level of shrinkage. The snug knitwrist is specially knit with elastic, making them snug and keeping the glove comfortably in place, a quality that is retained after numerous washes. The wrists are also longer which enhances the comfort and fit.

Do more layers equal more protection?
Construction in the palm area of leather gloves leads to some misconceptions. When sizing up gloves in a catalog, it is tempting to believe – based on appearance alone – that a patch palm is going to double your protection. To the uninitiated, palm patches would seem to offer greater protection, as the double palm looks like it would give twice the protection in that area.
The reality with most patch-palm leather glove styles is that the patch exists as a kind of bridge between two pieces of leather to create a full palm. This enables the glove manufacturer to maximize use of the full hide by using up all the smaller leftover pieces.
