Preventing Hand Injuries in the Workplace

Don’t let this happen to you or your employees. . .
Prevent hand injuries.

Hand injuries are not only painful but also result in expensive downtime and medical costs. According to a recent report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics a full ¼ of all injuries resulting in days away from work were hand related. Actual injury figures are likely much higher as many hand injuries remain unreported because they are thought of as “not serious enough”. The average cost per reportable hand injuries is a staggering $4200, according to the National Safety Council.

Percentage of Workplace Injuries

An even more shocking statistic is 70% of workers suffering hand injuries were not wearing gloves! For the remaining 30%, injuries occurred because the gloves used were either inadequate or worn out.

It goes without saying that gloves won’t protect you if you don’t wear them. It is for exactly that reason that Superior designs gloves that people want to wear. We don’t accept the notion that “one glove fits all hands and is suitable for all tasks”. Our gloves are designed with the comfort of workers and protection for specific tasks in mind. For example, Sheet metal workers wanted a glove with high cut-resistance and and great dexterity. With their feedback in mind we introduced our Superior Touch Coated Dyneema gloves; the best combination of cut-resistance and dexterity available in one glove.

Give us a call and we can help recommend the right glove for any application you may have.

Glove tip
ImageIt's a good idea to keep both latex gloves and heavy-duty work gloves in a Emergency Preparedness Kit. The latex gloves protect against pathogens when assisting with injuries to people you may not know. The work gloves can be used to protect your hands from broken glass, barbed wire, etc.
