Cut and Slash Resistant Gloves made with Dyneema®

The physical properties of Dyneema® fibre produce durable cut resistant gloves that provide excellent dexterity and sensitivity without sacrificing comfort. The base polymer of Dyneema® is Ultra High Molecular Weight (UHMW) polyethylene. In the manufacture of the fibre, the long chains of polyethylene molecules are oriented in a crystalline arrangement. This gives Dyneema® its’ extraordinary strength. In fact, pound for pound, Dyneema® is 15 times stronger than steel. The low co-efficient of friction of Dyneema® (or in simpler terms, the slickness of the fibre,) allows the sharp knife or object to slide across the surface of the glove, minimizing damage to the fibre. So the slickness and the strength of the fibre help protect against abrasive and slicing cuts. Plus the highly oriented molecules of the Dyneema® fibre do an efficient job of dissipating impact cuts. Although gloves made with Dyneema® are an excellent choice for cut-resistance applications, they are not recommended for use around heat, as Dyneema® will melt at 270°F (130°C). CFIA approved for food handling.

Dyneema® is a registered trademark of Royal DSM Group N.V.
