The key is a hi-tech new fabric called Temperbloc. It is a 100% KevlarŪ knit fabric coated in a heavyweight, yet flexible Silicone. Temperbloc was designed from the ground up for firefighting gloves. Waterproof so it has no water absorption, thus less hand fatigue and faster drying time. 100% KevlarŪ base fabric means exceptional slash and puncture resistance. 100% Silicone coating means great grip and much higher heat resistance than leather. Leather starts to char at 475°F, Silicone can handle 650°F with no damage. The KevlarŪ base fabric can handle higher temperatures. To round out the Temperbloc palms, we combine soft elkskin leather backs to make the Surge glove the most comfortable firefighter glove with unsurpassed dexterity.
