Work Gloves 101 » THT™

What exactly is THT™? THT™ is short for True Hand Technology. THT™ is a way of making stringknit gloves more comfortable. If you’ve worn stringknit gloves for any length of time, you’ve probably noticed that they have a tendency to “ride up”, especially the baby finger. That’s because on traditional stringknit gloves, the fingers all start at the same point and are knitted straight across. However, if you look at your own hand you’ll notice your baby finger starts about ½ inch further down than your other fingers. That’s what causes the baby finger to 'ride up' on string knit gloves. THT™ gloves are knitted the way your hand is shaped. With the baby finger about ½ inch lower than your other fingers.

Without THT™With THT™

What is the advantage of a THT™ glove? The main advantage of THT™ gloves is they are more comfortable and fit much better than regular stringknit gloves. We don't charge more for THT™; it is just another benefit of making Superior your glove supplier.

How did we do it? It’s a lot harder than it sounds. It took us several years of research to develop the technology. Then we essentially had to redesign and overhaul our knitting machines to be able to produce THT™ gloves. In the end we feel it has been worth it. Try a sample today to see for yourself. The result is a more comfortable, more dexterous and safer glove.

THT™ is even more noticeable in heavier gloves, such as Kevlar® or coated gloves. At present, styles we have changed to THT™ are:

  • Kevlar® Stringknit and Wire-Core Rhino® Gloves
  • Heavyweight Stringknit Gloves
  • Dexterity™ Nitrile Gloves
  • 'Action™' and 'Sidewall®' Leather Palm Gloves

Fancier grip patterns do not equal better grip
ImageThere are diamond pattern grips, sandpatch grips, Z-pattern grips, pebble grips and scallop grips. These grip patterns might have a small effect on dry grip, but you are not wearing a dishwashing style to handle dry things. When it comes to wet grip, like in wet, soapy water, our tests have shown all grip patterns perform relatively the same. There are ways to change grip characteristics by changing the glove compounding itself, but grip pattern alone has little-to-no effect on wet grip.
