The Sidewall
 Classic Clute Cut Leather palm gloves are one of the most popular glove styles in the world. They are the gloves with the grey split leather palm and white woven cotton back. They are popular because they are the most economical way to make a leather palm style glove. Good durability and abrasion resistance from the leather palm and an economical and cool cotton back. The “Clute” pattern, with three seams along the back, is the cheapest way to construct this style of glove. That has changed.
Sidewalls® cost about the same but are better because...
they are more comfortable, resulting in less hand fatigue and much better dexterity. This is the result of the knit fabric back as opposed to a woven fabric back. When something flexes as much as your hand does, a backing material made of a stretchier, more flexible knit material makes a lot of sense. Your hand stretches and flexes just like your feet and ankles do when you walk. (Imagine wearing woven socks?) The Sidewall® also has a lined palm. A standard leather palm gloves does not. The lining further cushions the hand, absorbs sweat, insulates from hot and cold objects, etc. The knit back is also more breathable and therefore cooler, making it more comfortable overall.
Better Washability - As you know, in large factories gloves are rewashed or drycleaned, patched, reconditioned and used over and over. The first place that a standard leather palm glove fails is on the back seams. Standard leather palms have 11 seams! Those seams usually start to unravel in under 5 washes. Not to mention that they rub and are annoying. The Sidewall® has only one heavy-duty seam, which is sewn in such way that you can barely feel it. In addition, woven cotton shrinks when washed, turning a Mens size into a Ladies. Sidewalls® are made with a cotton poly blend to minimize shrinkage. That means the Sidewall® will last a lot longer and save you money.
Looks - Standard leather palm gloves look cheap. The Sidewall® looks hi-tech and snazzy. Especially with the black sidewall and the sewn in Sidewall® tag.
Sizing - Standard leather palm gloves the world over come in only two sizes, men’s and ladies. They have zero stretch to accommodate larger or smaller hands. Sidewalls® have a lot of stretch AND come in 4 sizes: Small, Medium, Large and XL. The sizes are colour coded in the cuff for easier sorting after washing.
 THT - Sidewalls® are made using Superior’s THT®, true hand technology. This allows them to conform better to your hand, especially at the baby finger crotch. Sidewall®gloves are patent pending.
