No thanks, I don't want to prevent hand injuries.
Superior Glove was fortunate enough to sit down with Maggie Ellis from DuPont™ Kevlar®’s Global Marketing – Mechanical Protection division.
Maggie has nearly two decades of experience in brand marketing, communications and sales. Today we’re sharing some of the insight that Maggie had about Kevlar®.
Kevlar® is extremely strong and very durable. In fact, it’s five times stronger than steel on an equal weight basis.
Kevlar® offers impressive launderability. It washes very well, and won’t shrink nearly as much as many materials do when washed. In turn, this also means that when you choose PPE that’s been crafted with Kevlar®, you’ll get more bang for your buck because it’ll have a longer life cycle. Just don’t use bleach — or you’ll have a Kevlar® soup.
Kevlar® is 25% lighter than other fibers on the market but has the same level of cut protection.
Although Kevlar® sometimes gets a bad rap for not being as comfortable as other materials, it’s so lightweight that many people prefer it! The lack of bulkiness helps workers improve their dexterity and avoid the discomfort that overheating can cause in the workplace.
You probably already know that Kevlar® offers excellent heat and cut protection on its own. However, when it’s paired with other high-performing materials, it has the potential to offer even more substantial protection. Our K835KPALP gloves is a great example of this!
DuPont™ (the company that invented Kevlar®) has been around for over 200 years, and Kevlar® for over 50 years! Backed by its rich history and many years of research and product development, you know you can trust them to create high quality products that will keep you safe.
For those who are concerned about the well-being of workers and our planet, you’ll be happy to learn that DuPont™ Kevlar® is passionate about both safety and sustainability. They are committed to reusability and have a rigorous product stewardship process, so you can trust what you’re putting on your hands.
Kevlar® has been used in a surprising number of applications and industries around the world. While it’s most recognized for its use in bulletproof vests and other forms of body armor, you may not have known that it’s also been used to create everything from athletic footwear, smartphones, ping pong paddles, and even in aircraft, ship, and rail carriages!
