5 Best Safety Blogs to Follow

Preventing injury should be a number one priority at any work site. At home or on the job, little steps can be taken to help keep everyone involved safe.

The internet is a vast resource full of safety information, but what are some of the best blogs out there? Here is our list of some of the best. The list spans all sorts of advice from the workplace, industrial settings and home garages. They are listed in no particular order (except for the bonus at the bottom, which is obviously our favorite).

Occupational Health and Safety Magazine Blog:
We go right to the source with this one. OH&S is one of the top safety resources on the net. They have won several awards for articles and their website contains a wealth of information on safety. The blog is generally updated once or twice a month and has articles that span a variety of topics.

You can find just about any topic from office safety to training programs. In addition, the blogs contain a comments section for discussion with other readers.

National Safety Council Blog:
From the NSC’s website: “The National Safety Council is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to save lives by preventing injuries and deaths at work, in homes and communities and on the road through leadership, research, education and advocacy.”
Their blog reflects their mission. It’s a great resource that focuses mostly on job and workplace safety, with some articles sprinkled in about home safety.

OSHA Law Blog:
If the legal side of safety is what you’re looking for, then the OSHA Law Blog is the place for you. This website discusses safety from the standpoint of OSHA regulations and OSHA policy. OSHA Law Blog provides excellent analysis and insight written by lawyers practicing in Washington D.C. in the health and safety field.

Do It Yourself Electrical Safety Blog:
The Do It Yourself website is an award-winning site on home how-to projects. They specialize in advice for the home handyman. Electrocution is one of the leading causes of injury during do-it-yourself projects, so this blog covers quite a few safety topics specifically dealing with at-home electrical projects.

Along with the blogs are rather extensive forums, so if you can’t find what you’re looking for already written, you may be able to ask for forum advice.

My Safe Work:
The My Safe Work blog is run by a non-profit foundation of the same name. It was started to memorialize a young man who lost his life in a safety accident in a factory. Since then, the foundation was established to raise money and awareness for workplace safety and how to limit and prevent injuries.
The blog is updated on a monthly basis and has several personal articles about safety. It is a good place to go for a ground level view of safety and safety issues.

Bonus Feature
Superior Glove Work and Safety Blog:
As experts in hand protection, our dedication and drive is to keep workers safe. For this reason, our blog does not focus on glove promotion (unlike a lot of others out there). We strive to ensure we supply our readers with a steady flow of relevant information. Of course, if there is an event or product we are excited to talk about, you will also find it here. But generally, this blog is used as a go-to resource for those looking for safety tips, selection tools and general safety information.
