Local Cyclists Shoot For the Moon

“Shoot for the moon and even if you miss you’ll land among the stars.” –Les Brown

On October 3rd, 2015, the Halton Hills Bicycle Friendly Community Committee proved that reaching for the moon really does pay off: after achieving their goal of cycling at least 384,000 kilometres – the approximate distance from the Earth to the Moon – the 1038 local cyclists who participated in the 2015 Halton Hills Community Bike Challenge raised a whopping $62,500 for the Georgetown Hospital Foundation!

Superior Glove is a proud sponsor of this wonderful charity initiative. (I even logged some kilometres myself!) Attracting both the young and the old, this inspiring event is remarkable for a multitude of reasons: not only does it encourage our community to pursue a much more healthy and active lifestyle and work together to significantly lessen our carbon footprint, the event also raises a significant amount of money for a wonderful cause: the residents of Halton Hills who will directly benefit from the many healthcare services that the Georgetown Hospital Foundation provides. As such, on behalf of Superior Glove, I presented a cheque for $2,500 to the event organizers at the 2015 Bike Challenge Celebration and Cheque Presentation event this past Monday evening.

We were very pleased to contribute to the $178,000 that this phenomenal initiative has raised over the past three years; you could even say that we’re ‘over the moon’ about it! We hope that the Halton Hills Bicycle Friendly Community Committee continues to run the event for many years to come.
